
Paneer Malai Kofta from Kabita’s Kitchen
Paneer Malai Kofta is a popular vegetarian dish. It is made out of paneer dunked in cream. Malai is Indian version of cream prepared by skimming off the fatty layer from boiled milk.

Paneer Malai Kofta
Ingredients
For Kofta
- 200 gms Paneer Crumbled
- 2 Large Size Potato Boiled and Crumbled
- 1/2 tbsp Cumin (Jeera) Powder
- 2 tbsp Corn Flour
- 1/2 tbsp Kashmiri Red Chilly Powder
- Oil for deep frying
- Salt To Taste
For Gravy
- 1/2 tbsp Cumin (Jeera) Seeds
- 1 Medium Size Onion Chopped
- 6-7 Cloves Garlic
- 1 Inch Ginger
- 4 Cardamom
- 1 Inch Cinnamon Stick
- 4 Cloves
- 2 Medium Size Tomato Chopped
- 3-4 Cashew
- 1 tbsp Mustard Oil
- 1/2 tbsp Kashmiri Red Chilly Powder
- 1 tbsp Ghee
- 1/2 tbsp Turmeric (Haldhi) Powder
- 3-4 tbsp Cream
- Salt To Taste
Instructions
Kofta Preparation
- Add crumbled potatoes and paneer in a mixing bowl.Add jeera powder, kashmiri red chilly powder, corn flour and salt.Mix them and prepare a dough.
- Roll them into medium kofta balls.
- Now, heat oil in a deep fry pan.
- Slide the kofta balls into oil. Deep fry on medium flame till they turn crisp and golden brown.
- Keep the balls aside.
Gravy Preparation
- Heat Oil in a pan.Add cumin seeds, chopped onion, chopped ginger, garlic, clove, cardamom, cinnamon, chopped tomato and cashew. Fry for 5 minutes.Allow to cool.
- Now, add the ingredients in a mixture and make a thick paste.
- Again, in another pan, heat 1 tbsp ghee. Add 1/2 tbsp Kashmiri Red Chilly Powder and the masala paste. Fry for 1 minute.
- Add 1 cup hot water, turmeric and salt.
- When the gravy boils, add kofta. Turn off the flame, else kofta will disintegrate.
- Add cream and stir.
- Your malai kofta is ready!!!
Notes
Serve along side jeera rice, white rice, butter naan or roti.
